Description:

Polytetrafluoroethylene -[-CF2-CF2-]n- is a fluoric polymer obtained in result of tetrafluoroethylene polymerization (CF2=CF2). The effect of this process is formation of linearly ordered particles of unique chemical and physical properties. PTFE is almost entirely resistant to chemical substances and dissolves only in concentrated hydrofluoric acid. In addition, low surface energy of PTFE makes it a great sliding material

PTFE properties:

(for temperature range: from -240°C to +260°C)
physiologically neutral – non-harmful to living organisms,
non-toxic, resistant to microorganisms and fungi,
good sliding and abrasive properties,
practically no abrasive vibration mechanism,
good urease properties,
very high impact strength, also in low temperatures,
electro-insulating or antistatic types,
high temperature of continuous use up to +260°C (periodically to +315°C),
high chemical resistance
hydrolysis and hot steam resistant,
high UV resistance.

Exemplary PTFE applications:

sealings,
insula tors,
sliding mattings,
medical device elements,
chemical apparatus lining,
valve elements,
pipeline joints,
machine components: bearings and sliding rings,
protection against aggressive pollutants,
anti-corrosive coatings,
waterproof fabric finishings.
